Jesse Thomas drops out of North Carolina's governor's race
Jesse Thomas, a retired health insurance executive and Republican, will run instead for secretary of state.
RALEIGH, N.C. —Jesse Thomas announced Wednesday that he's dropping out of the race for North Carolina's gubernatorial seat.
Thomas said he'll run for secretary of state instead. Democrat Elaine Marshall has held the role for nearly three decades, according to WRAL.
Current Gov. Roy Cooper is term-limited and can't seek reelection.
