UPDATED NOVEMBER 01, 2023 5:09 PM Republican Jesse Thomas is dropping his gubernatorial campaign and will run for secretary of state.
Thomas, a former CEO of Healthy Blue, a part of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, said he plans to advocate to the General Assembly to enact term limits. He also wants to eliminate state income tax for senior citizens, teachers and active-duty military.
“As secretary of state I will advance our business systems to the cutting edge of modernization, actively focus on economic development by seeking out companies within North Carolina to expand and persuade other businesses to relocate to the Tarheel state,” Thomas said.
